Blue
tour : From La Baule to the Pays Brieron
- Green or blue when it pounds against the coast, the water is transformed
into grey shades in the long estuary of the Loire, then it becomes white
in the salt marshes of Mesquer and Guérande or even black in Pays
Brieron.
The craggy rocks of the "côte sauvage" contrast with the
curve of fine sandy beaches sheltered by pinewoods on the dunes.
In the evening, crossing the salt marshes paints an unforgettable picture
: the golden-brown shades of the salt piles regularly arranged ad infinitum
light up thousands of carnations with changing colours. The routine of
the salt marsh workers reminds us that the harvest and marketing of salt
have sustained generations of men from the "pays Blanc".
Green
tour : In Pays de Retz
- Leave the Loire and notice how the granite and slates give way to whitewashed
walls and round tiles. Inland, the site of Grand Lieu is an extraordinary
bird sanctuary. Push the branches aside and discover the biggest French
lake, which contracts in summer as the African Tchad does.
- The Côte de Jade owes its name to the colour of the Atlantic.
It is lined with a "smugglers path" which allows us to
discover creeks and beaches dotted with seaside resorts. Pornic, its famous
beach, has attracted writers and artists, such as Georges Sand, Flaubert,
Max Ernst...
The
White Tour: In Nantes' vineyard
- The Roman tiles laid down as so many pieces of mosaic on the roofs of
the white houses give a very Southern feeling to this South bank of the
Loire. Friendly, the inhabitants live in their gardens that they decorate
with tender loving care. From the hillsides where they cling, the gardens
plunge down in terraces to the banks of the Sèvre or the Maine.
- Catch a glimpse of the rounded hills to the South where the vineyards
stretch as far as the eye can see. For several centuries, they have produced
the wines that make the wealth of the land. Gros Plant and Muscadet share
this region.
- This is why around Clisson la Belle, you'll enjoy the atmosphere by
going from a wine cellar to an outdoor concert on a summer evening in
the Gardens of Garenne-Lemot and by discovering restaurants where the
meals are just as generous as the inhabitants. Let yourself be guided
by your desires, be hungry and thirsty for discovering this country and
all the surprises it hides.
